The color of the shoes is inspired by the cover of Guns N Roses' debut album "Appetite for Destruction". Incidentally, "Appetite for Destruction" was released in the same year as the Nintendo video game "Skate or Die" giving us the implication of Nike's tribute to the American scene in 1987.
